Nigeria: Across the Eras

Have you ever noticed how the Americans have a documentary for absolutely EVERYTHING? I recognised this about a year ago while completing my Masters and being introduced to the plethora of ways they have documented their history – from documentaries about fashion, tv, music – someone has or is currently creating a documentary about it.

‘Llove Goes To’, YouTube

After bingeing on way too many documentaries last summer, I started thinking – wow I wish I could voyage through Nigerian history in the same way. Don’t get me wrong, there are several resources out there for me to do this effectively! From ‘A History of Nigeria’ by Jide Olanrewaju to Olasupo Shashore’s ‘Journey of an African Colony’ – I am definitely not the first and won’t be the last to have this desire to learn more about our History. However, the formula of drawing back the curtains to visit each era is one I am yet to see. And so I decided, why not embark on this journey myself and share what I find on this platform?

So here are we are!  Nigeria: Across the Eras is a deep dive of our history beyond just the usual things we hear about. Join us as we become flies on the wall of every era of Nigeria’s long and rich existence.

As usual, the intention here is to EDUCATE with the hopes that in learning more about our history we feel EMPOWERED to be part of the process of hopefully re-writing our future as a nation.

Hope you enjoy!

My thoughts are best expressed by writing.
So that's what I do - I write.

It's how I make sense of it all.
My prayer is that someone somewhere is blessed or is able to relate to what I write.
