HYPERSENSITIVE

The Glance - strike one
The 360-Turn & Stare - strike two
The Follow-My-Every-Move - strike three

Wherever I looked, he was in view
It’s okay, I’m in a public place, I’ll be safe
But do they even care? Or will they simply join him to stare?

He was old enough to be my grandfather
But he looked at me as though he planned to father my child
He looked at me, with a tilted head like he was trying to examine my features
His modern day Mona Lisa
But why me? When I was standing in a sea of beauty

The Altare della Patria just to the left of me
The Trevi not too far away
Yet he chose to stay
I prayed I wouldn’t become his prey
I prayed his eyes wouldn’t stay
Follow me onto the bus
Because that would be a race
I wasn’t ready nor protected enough to face

My bus finally arrived
I got on
I checked every section
He was gone

Three Strikes - thank God I was out!
