In His Image

“And in all this, we see God at the centre of everything as He intentionally created human beings to be His image bearers.”

‘Made by Design’ – Sex, Purity and the Longing of a Girl’s Heart (YouVersion Plan)

Lord, you are too intentional
too detailed
too unconventional

I mean, you deposited
Yourself in me
Who does that?
Who sees - truly sees, me
The way you do

It’s so profound
It’s so new
A new means of thought
That you give yourself up
For us
Though you wanted that cup
To pass over
Because it was scary, that’s the truth

Death for something you had no part in
Something you didn’t do
& several things we did not fess up to
Because you needed us to look like you
To be renewed

Restored & honoured
Dignified
Given a rightful place in your arms

Veil tears
Earth shakes
Dead are risen

Actions preceding more actions
Love outpouring
A maker showing His glory
Showing His face
Never seeking to replace
But to restore, to revive, to erase

Erase all the burned matter
The things we shouldn’t have sought after
The things He knows weren’t designed for us to do
Yet we gravitate towards
That shock factor
That mildew

Why can’t I be satisfied?
Why can’t I be filled?
For only you can satisfy
You made me
You been knew
You’re aware of every little thing I do

Every move
Every touch
Every thought
Every thrust

As I force myself onto sin
Because my flesh says it’s okay to let him in
But you wait outside
Waiting to hug me
To be near me as I cry

Waiting for me to speak
To confess, to be me again
Not looking elsewhere
For all I found in you
But somehow forgot that was the #mood

Whenever I’m with you
I feel safe
I feel brave
I feel okay
I feel sane
Sane enough to smile
To know that this life
Can produce joy

But only if it’s rooted in you
Only if I never lose sight
of what the mirror says
that I’m made in your image
- I look like you.
