Please Note:
When I use the word ‘need’, I am in no way suggesting God requires anything from us or depends on us – I mean that would be hilarious to think we as imperfect beings are who God looks to.
What I mean is that as the Holy Spirit revealed it to me, we are important to God. He loves us and wants to use us as part of His perfect plan and to bring Him glory – because He is so deserving of this and much more.
I was going to change the words, exchange ‘need’ for ‘want’ to be on the safe side but the Holy Spirit just cautioned me saying, ‘that’s how I revealed it you, it was done like that on purpose.’ So I’m going to respectfully oblige and obey Him and leave this poem as it came to me.
I wouldn’t change a thing
I need you
Just as you are
You are my splendour, my joy
You are my greatest creation
My life’s work
My masterpiece
So don’t question me
When it seems
That darkness seems to befall you
That sickness seems to destroy you
Because I need you
Just as you are
You are the reason why I lived
As a man
Came down with a plan
To restore you to ‘I Am’
I am greater than that pain
My power is made perfect in weakness
There’s nothing you won’t gain
From keeping your eyes fixed on me
From cleansing yourself of iniquity
And falling at my knees
Crying, ‘ABBA, I need you’
‘ABBA, I can’t do this without you’
‘Because I need you’
Just as you are
You are perfect in my eyes
No flaw I would disguise
Every scar turned into a beauty mark
(Word to Ciara)
You are honoured, favoured
Loved - never hated
So come to me
All you weak and heavy laden
For I will give you rest
Because I need you
Just as you are
What could I do
If the clay presented to me (that’s you)
Was already ‘good’
Was already ‘perfect’
Have I not told you?
Your ways are not my ways
Neither your thoughts mine
Those are all yours
And I can’t use yours
I can’t mix mine with - ‘what are those?’
You see, your imperfections
Are perfection to me
And your idea of perfection
Doesn’t tickle my fancy
If anything it puts me in the backseat
It leaves you in control
Tell me daughter,
Are you the author of your soul?
Explain to me - verbatim
How you wove you whole ?
So don’t think for me
Let me have the master key
Because I need you
Just as you are
Heaven and earth will pass away
But my Word, will always be the same
The same today
The same yesterday
The same forever
So don’t you forget that
I formed you in your mother’s womb
I lifted you out of the miry clay
I know you, better than you know yourself
And I will lead you to where there is only wealth
Wealth of mind
Wealth of heart
Wealth of knowledge
Knowing you’re set apart
To do great things
So don’t ask ‘how’
Add a ‘soon’
How soon can we start?
How soon can I be used?
That’s the spirit
That worketh in you
Giving you the drive to get by
The joy to open your eyes and see
That I am good
And I need you
Just as you are.
