He hears us
He hears us not in the way we want to be heard
But in the way we need to be heard
He hears our innermost desires
Our inner cries, our inner requirements
He knows what size fits us
It’s never a ‘one size fits all’
But rather a call
To ensure we remained called
According to his purpose
He hears us
He hears our every emotion
And fills us up with the notion
That we are worthy
That we are loved
That we are valued
That we can rise above
Rise above those thoughts that cry out
Those ideas that make us doubt
That make us search for clout within this world
When it is written: ‘we have overcome the world’ and all its spoils
He hears us
He hears our heartbeat
And knows the rhythm to a t
He knows us by the very strand of our hair
He knows our every care
provided we are willing to cast them unto him
Allowing him to bear the weight
Because he can and it will never frustrate him
It will never make him move away
Because our God is near to those who are near to him
He draws close like a deer searching for the nearest spring
He longs for those moments spent with him
In perfect bliss
He strengthens us to raise our head to him
‘Look up child’, he says - turn your eyes to me and don’t look away
Don’t hesitate to prostrate
To be you, to be vulnerable
To be moved, to hunger no more
Because he feeds us
He pleases us
He fills me up with joy
Pleasure evermore
Oh boy!
What more can I say
Except to rest in his embrace
Except to open my lips to glorify his name
He hears us.
He is there for us
He will never leave nor forsake us
What type of love is this?
A one that insists to exist
Even before I was formed you knew me
You knew my iniquity
And still said - ‘she’s for me’
Thank you Lord
Thank you Father, you are good
I will lift your name and give you praise
Because my name calls for it
My sheer existence is a call to it
A call to give God all the glory and the praise
A resounding noise
Jericho is won
And He reigns forevermore.
My El Shama.
