Let's Write

‘Blessings keep falling in my lap’

So as you know I’m always the latest on hypes. But I finally made it and have had a partial listen to the critically acclaimed ‘Colouring Book’ by Chance the Rapper. Apart from the fact that it gives me them Kirk Franklin vibes which I adore so dearly, I’ve also been inspired by his lyrics – something I adore even more about music.

Lately I’ve been finding that I’m more drawn to gospel music – that’s not to say that I’ve suddenly had this whole dramatic revelation that I shouldn’t be listening to secular music, but for some reason – be it the pressure of exams or the fears of failure in general, this is the only kind of music that has edified me lately. I put it on in the morning and suddenly my whole day is framed with His peace and love. It’s the most remarkable feeling to be in God’s presence and it’s something I yearn for moreso now. I guess you could say Tolz is growing up 😂

Anyway, back to Chance. So far the one song that’s resonated with me (yep, you guessed it!) has been ‘Blessings.’ This is mainly cause I’m a visual learner and watching him performing it on Jimmy Fallon made it all the more meaningful. He is such an artist, every sound is carefully orchestrated and thought out and the zeal and passion he has for his music is so transparent. It’s a thing of beauty really.

He has ordered my steps, gave me a sword with a crest

The song honestly help to reiterate what I’ve been trusting in God for – and that’s for the ability to thank him through it ALL – the good, the bad and the ugly. It’s such an easy thing to say but difficult thing to actively try and do. But it’s not impossible because nothing is impossible with him.

According to Chance:

The freedom that being a child of God presents is like no other, it’s the warmest feeling and the best decision I’ve ever made.

Praying for blessings in your life, peace & love,

My thoughts are best expressed by writing.
So that's what I do - I write.

It's how I make sense of it all.
My prayer is that someone somewhere is blessed or is able to relate to what I write.

"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..." ~ Romans 12:6
