So even though I’ve lived here for about 5 years now I still identify myself as a Nigerian who just happens to be living in London. I can’t deny, I love my country and everything it has to offer but I can’t help the feeling that living in the UK for the past 5 years has left me somewhat detached from my roots.
But coming to Warwick has helped ease this mindset. I went for a talk on the Biafra War the other day and it’s never made me feel more inspired to learn more about everything to do with Nigeria – from our History, to our Art, to our Culture in general – it’s an honour to be a Nigerian because we have so many stories to tell and so much to offer.
OWN WHERE YOU’RE FROM. LOVE WHERE YOU’RE FROM.
Peace & Love,
