Let's Write

New Romantics

Cause baby I could build a castle
Out of all the bricks they threw at me
And every day it’s like battle
But every night with us is like a dream
Baby we’re the new romantics
Come on, come along with me
Heart break is the national anthem
We sing it proudly
We are too busy dancing
To get knocked off our feet
Baby we’re the new romantics
The best people in life are free

– ‘New Romantics’ by Taylor Swift

Kinda obsessed with this album at the moment. I love the bits where she admits that ‘heartbreak is a national anthem’- it could be from a relationship which I’m guessing she’s talking about or as I see it, from anything that’s really made you upset or got you down. So I love how she’s literally transforming her heartbreak as a form of endurance and strength and leaves us with my favourite line off this song:

‘The best people in life are free’

I like feeling free and happy and sometimes it’s really hard with the whirlwind of things going on simultaneously in my life – yes, I know I’m only 17 but trust me, my brain is constantly in motion thinking of ‘what could be’ or ‘what should be’. So having these words is kind of a reassurance that I need to actively LET GO sometimes. I say ‘actively’ because I always have this as a goal but it seems to be hypothetical and has never gained momentum in becoming reality. So I guess I’m sharing this so that whoever reads it can be my witness that I’ve decided to..

I WANT TO BE A NEW ROMANTIC AND FALL HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH MYSELF. I encourage you all to at least aspire to do the same…

Peace & Love,

My thoughts are best expressed by writing.
So that's what I do - I write.

It's how I make sense of it all.
My prayer is that someone somewhere is blessed or is able to relate to what I write.

"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..." ~ Romans 12:6
