Let's Write

‘There is God Oh!’

Recently my friends and I have been discussing the terrible issues our beautiful nation Nigeria is suffering. Be it the lost girls, the Ebola crisis- there is no doubt that Nigeria is in need of severe prayer.

One topic that resonated was the fact that with the rate at which Boko Haram is going, Nigeria will no longer be a nation with the freedom of religion but will abide by the Sharia Law and live under strict Islamic conditions. For those who may not know, Boko Haram is the prominent terrorist group in Nigeria whose name means ‘Western Education is Sin’ and were the key orchestrators of the abduction of the somewhat 300 girls.

This is something I have begun to become more passionate about especially due to the fact that I have recently decided to study Law as a first degree. However, it’s mainly because I detest this insane idea that we as equal human beings be robbed of our freedom of belief.

However, today in the tiniest of ways I was given some hope. Hope that Nigeria will not lose it’s freedom.Today I visited the Hagia Sophia Museum which is a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul, Turkey. It was first used as a church and then converted to a mosque before being used solely as a museum.

What I found interesting about the place was the fact that when transforming it into a mosque, the majority of the mosaics used to glorify Jesus were destroyed. However, despite the immense amount of plastering to cover up the original beauty of the church; there were still several areas that couldn’t be masked. To me this spoke volumes about how no matter how hard people may try to diminish the gospel and diminish the fact that Jesus is reality; it cannot and will never be done.

Therefore, I have nothing to fear, as long as there are still Christians in Nigeria dedicating prayers towards our great nation, our freedom can and will be protected. So in the words of our First Lady, ‘there is God oh’!!

Peace & Love,

PS: I have nothing against the Islamic Faith and I try my best to respect all religions. This post is based on a personal passion for Nigeria to remain a country where the people are free to practice their personal beliefs and not be violently forced into one.

My thoughts are best expressed by writing.
So that's what I do - I write.

It's how I make sense of it all.
My prayer is that someone somewhere is blessed or is able to relate to what I write.

"Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them..." ~ Romans 12:6
